PROJECT: Dredging – Mt Thorley Warkworth 5S
SCOPE OF WORK:
To remove an estimated 50,000m3 of material from the 5 South Dam and deposit the slurry into Abbey Green.
A 24 hour, 7 day per week operations were conducted. 5 South Dam is a water polishing pond and contained an accumulation of coal fines and silt from various inflows around the site. The dam had to be kept online and operational whilst the dredging operations were conducted. As the location of the dam was adjacent to a haul road, our dredging operators had to be extra vigilant in their interaction with other mobile plant using this area during both shifts.
Maxitool Australia conducted 24/7 dredging operations using our horizontal auger dredge to remove the built-up solids from the dam as well as removing larger rocks and debris that had made their way into 5S. The Clients’ water supply was not disrupted during the operations and the project was completed earlier than anticipated. Maxitool Australia also conducted Bathymetric surveys prior to and after the project.
