PROJECT: Dredging – Small Reservoir Solutions
SCOPE OF WORK:
To develop a small, remote dredge, compact enough to be deployed in small, hard to reach reservoirs like process water tanks.
CHALLENGES FACED:
Process water tanks often contain high levels of target minerals, and cleanouts are necessary to restore both water capacity and enable recovery of this product. These reservoirs are often in small and hard to reach locations, with a number of safety issues that need to be addressed.
ACHIEVEMENTS/OUTCOMES:
Maxitool Australia developed a remote-controlled dredge, lightweight and compact enough to be deployed easily in most situations. The dredge can be fitted with a water jet ring to improve productivity, an agitator to break up heavy or caked product, the pump is self-cooling and a fire monitor is supplied. Operation is by remote control, meaning operators can work within the confines of handrails, avoiding exposure to any hazards.
